Napoleonic Ships and Guildhall Tours
LAND AHOY! A display of Napoleonic ships is now housed in the Dodderidge Room at the Guildhall, Barnstaple. These ship models were made by Napoleonic prisoners of war, and the display shows a variety of ships, including a “12 gun ship rigged sloop” and “14 gun topsail schooner”.
The Napoleonic ships are only some of the gems within the Guildhall, as visitors are able to see the council chamber with its famous paintings and the wonderful Dodderidge room with the town’s stunning regalia.
If you would like to discover the history behind the gateway guided tours of the Guildhall take place most Saturdays during the summer season, between 10am and 2pm. If you would like to specially request a tour for another date or time please contact Mrs Denise Holton on (01271) 373003, to check availability. Admission price is £1 for an adult and 50p for a child; a group discount is available on request for 15 or more people.
Come visit and explore Barnstaple’s Guildhall!
